Jon D. Uman graduated from the University of Florida in 1986 and received his Juris Doctorate from George Washington University in 1989. He has proudly served as the president of the Gainesville Federal Bar Association, and is currently a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Eighth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, and the Palm Beach County Bar Association.
Jon D. Uman has litigated hundreds of cases in both state and federal courts, including cases involving motorcycle crashes, truck crashes, automobile crashes, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.

Aaron Baker assists in every aspect of the preparation of cases for litigation and trial.
Aaron Baker graduated from Dickinson College in 2003, earned his Juris Doctorate from Roger Williams University in 2006, and earned his Masters of Laws degree in Taxation in 2007 from the University of Florida. He is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and in federal courts in the Northern District of Florida.
Before joining the firm, he served as an intern for municipal government in Pawtucket, RI, private practice in Providence, RI, and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Aaron was also Articles Editor of the Roger Williams University Law Review, and, as a research assistant, he assisted in the update of Rhode Island's leading treatise on the Rules of Civil Procedure.
Aaron's journal article discussing governmental tort immunity, Untangling the Public Duty Doctrine, 10 Roger Williams U. L. Rev. 731 (2005), has been cited in numerous treatises, articles, and appellate court documents. His most recent article discussing appellate standards of review, Replaying Appellate Standards of Review: The NFL's Indisputable Visual Evidence: A Deferential Standard of Review, appears in the Texas Entertainment and Sports Law Journal.

Jose I. Moreno joined the firm of counsel in 2007 and quickly became an essential and integral part of our team. Mr. Moreno is fluent in all Spanish dialects. His Spanish heritage, which hails from Bogotá, Colombia, enables him to give our Spanish clients security in all legal communications. Because we want all of our Spanish speaking clients to be well informed, comfortable, and secure with their representation, Mr. Moreno co-counsels all personal injury and criminal cases for Uman Law Firm’s Spanish clients.
Mr. Moreno graduated from the University of Florida in 1993. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal Law School in 1999. He is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Florida. Mr. Moreno’s accomplishments are many. With a solid background in Estate planning, Business Law, Residential and Commercial Real Estate Law, Bankruptcy and Arbitration, he currently serves as the President of the North Florida Area Real Estate attorney’s Counsel. Jose Moreno, P.A. is the only business in Florida to be a Beta tester for ATIDS XE (a program for real estate closings) for Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund. Furthermore, Mr. Moreno is one of the five (5) Judicially appointed licensed arbitrators for Binding and Non-binding Arbitration in North Central Florida. Jose takes great pride in the quality of cases he has handled over the years and is a dynamic addition to our team.

Claire graduated in 1989 from Florida State University with a degree in exercise physiology. In 1994, Claire obtained her nursing degree from Florida Atlantic University.

SAMANTHA ALYARD - RECEPTIONIST/PARALEGAL
Samantha Aylward is the first smiling face that you will see when entering our office, and she is often the first voice you will hear when contacting our firm. Samantha handles the initial communication between our team and our clients, including initial intake telephone calls, preparing office correspondence, and performing legal research. Always eager to help our team, Samantha often corresponds with our clients both after hours and on the weekends.
Samantha is a Pre-Law English major at the University of Florida. She serves on the executive board for the university’s national Pre-Law association Phi Alpha Delta. Samantha can also be seen inside the classroom as an assistant professor for the University of Florida’s Dean of Student’s office.
As well as a strong academic experience, Samantha has vital experience in customer service. While serving as a customer service representative for The Fresh Market in Gainesville, Florida, Samantha has earned both the trust and respect of the Gainesville Community. As a member of our community, an assistant professor, and student at The University of Florida, Samantha utilizes her personal and communication skills to assist our clients in every way possible.

Aaron J. Retteen is a Pre-Law senior undergraduate student at the University of Florida pursuing a degree in Political Science. Aaron works closely with our team and our clients by preparing legal documents, researching legal issues and organizing our team’s daily agenda. Aaron has worked with distinguished professors at the University of Florida on a number of academic projects requiring extensive amounts of research. As a member of the university’s national Pre-Law association Phi Alpha Delta, Aaron has associated with numerous respected legal professionals, been involved with the Gainesville community through public service and served as an attorney in mock trials.
